GAMESHIP, the latest game and animation studio in the Netherlands opens
its doors in Leeuwarden Leeuwarden, November 3, 2009 - On November 10th, Ferd Crone, mayor of
Leeuwarden and Eddy Zoey, BNN presenter and entertainer, lead the ceremony to
open the most modern game and animation studio in the Netherlands. Gameship harnesses
this cutting edge multimedia studio to create high-profile and innovative
productions in the fields of HD video, audio, animation and gaming. The
facilities are amongst the most advanced in Europe.
International
ambition
Gameship aims for high-end content driven projects to deliver superior products
in both concept and in execution. Gameship expects to develop projects in a
spirit of collaboration with the participation of leading creative companies
both nationally and internationally. This ambition is driven by the high growth
potential of the national and international gaming industry in the near future.
Gameship is working with specialized partners in concept development, video
production, audio design, game development and motion capture.
Although Gameship is a commercial organization, the company also has an
educational objective. Top talent from educational programs including
Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD) of the Northern College Leeuwarden (NHL)
will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business and
high-level work on multimedia projects. In addition, Gameship will conduct
R&D in education and healthcare, with a strong link to animation, movement
and sport. The targeted clients for Gameship include manufacturers, gaming
companies, multimedia (advertising) agencies, physicians and researchers.
Advanced studios
Game Ship is located at the Willemskade in the heart of Leeuwarden and is one
of the most advanced game and multimedia studios in Europe. Facilities include a
motion capture studio, a fully digital HDTV studio, a unique CAREN
virtual-reality system and an audio mastering studio based on Digidesign?s
ProTools. Gameship is equipped with over 50 workstations for students to pursue
their education, and for external companies and other institutions to work with
the latest multimedia, animation and simulation techniques.
Partners
Gameship B.V. is a joint venture between the NHL, theFactor.e, Motek, de Jonge Beheer,
and the Northern Development Administration (NOM). In addition to these
shareholders, Leeuwarden City Partnership and Northern Netherlands (SNN) have
also played key roles in the studio?s development. This project is co-financed
by the European Community - European Regional Development Fund.
