We're producing the first 3D animation feature film in the Netherlands, building upon our successful TV series for the Efteling, Sprookjesboom. Cinema release in February 2012.
The Dutch theme park Efteling is releasing an animated fairy tale movie.
Sprookjesboom de Film, is the title of the new Dutch animated film which is expected in theaters next year.
The imaginative story is about Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, Cinderella, Tom Thumb and the Giant from the Sprookjesboom TV series. When the characters accidentally end up in Winterland, they must find five magic crystals in order to get home. Unfortunately, they are thwarted along their adventure by the evil Witch. In the unknown country they get to know some new characters: Gnome klutz (an ice gnome), an ice dragon and an ice fakir.
The new animated film is a coproduction of Efteling and the Amsterdam-based 3D animation studio Motek Entertainment. The film (as well as the Sprookjesboom TV series) uses motion capture , an animation technique where live actor's movements provide the basis for the animated characters. The technique is well known for being used in popular Hollywood films such as Avatar and Lord of the Rings.
Hans Walther (Cafe de Wereld , Sprookjesboom series) is directing the film. The story is written by Tingue Dongelmans (NL), Jimmy Simons (BE) and Dirk Nielandt (BE).
Independent Films will release Sprookjesboom de Film in both the Dutch and Flemish cinemas from February 22, 2012. The film will run approximately 65 minutes. |
